[Scene: Central Perk, Gunther is pouring Rachel coffee.]
Gunther: Here you go.
Gunther: (In his head) Say Rachel, I was wondering if youd like to go to a movie with me sometime. As my lover! Nnnsch, to out there. Maybe youd just like to ah, get something to eat with me sometime? As my lover.
(Gunther gets this hurt expression on his face and goes into the back room)
(Shes interrupted by a loud crash and the sound of braking dishes. Followed quickly by another crash. Everyone turns and looks at the back room, as Gunther emerges.)
Gunther: I dropped a cup.
[Scene: Central Perk, Rachel is telling Phoebe about Mark, as Gunther eavesdrops behind them.]
(Gunther tries to swoop in to ask Rachel out.)
Rachel: I mean I think Id say no to anybody right now. (Hearing this Gunther swoops back to cleaning tables.) Oh, but it was so strange. I mean Im standing there with this charming, cute guy, whos asking me to go out with him, which Im allowed to do, and I felt guilty. Y'know, like Id be cheating on Ross or something.
Gunther: (entering with the cat) I just came for the red-velvet pillow.
GUNTHER: Yeah.
Gunther: Hes getting married tomorrow right?
GUNTHER: Lemonade? You ok man?
ROSS: Alright, that's it. I've had enough of this, alright. Gunther, these guys are trying to take our seat.
GUNTHER: Oh, that's too bad. How'd they do it?
GUNTHER: I um, was sorta thinking about maybe...
CHANDLER: I think you played the Gunther card too soon.
GUNTHER: What?
Ross: (to Gunther) Thank you.
Rachel: God! And to have to hear about it from Gunther!!
MONICA: You, and you, you're supposed to be at my party. And Gunther! What are you doing here?
[Scene: Monica and Chandler's, the party continues with Rachel leaning on the counter as Gunther walks in carrying candy.]
MONICA: What? [she runs over to where Phoebe is, Phoebe signals for Gunther to go] I don't see anything.
Gunther: Okay, here are the tips for this morning. Jen gets 50, 50 for me, and Joey owes eight dollars.
Isabella: (to Gunther) Um, coffee to go, please.
Ross: Hi Gunther.
Gunther: What does Rachel see in this guy? I love Rachel. I wish she was my wife.
GUNTHER: Um [gestures to dance floor]

Gunther: Oh, like you dont already have everything.
Gunther: Rachel has those in burgendy.
Joey: Hey-hey-hey-ho-ho, I got this one. Here you go. (Hands Gunther Chandlers card.) Yknow I gotta tell ya, sometimes I justI dont get Chandler. Yknow, me and him do stuff all the time without you and you dont get all upset.
Gunther: Rachel?

[cut to Gunther retraining Rachel.]
GUNTHER: Fellas, these guys were here first.
Gunther: Rachel?
Rachel: Gunther, I quit.
Gunther: You would think.
Gunther: Remind me to review with you which pot is decaf and which is regular.
Gunther: What?!
Gunther: Someone in here.
Gunther: (to Monica and Phoebe) Hey guys.
Gunther: You dont need to fill these silences.
(Gunther walks up)

Gunther: They already do. Thats why they call it the tray spot.
Gunther: (to Chandler) Someone in there?
Gunther: Sorry. She thought you were somebody else.
Gunther: Are you all right?
Ross: Gunther! Gunther. Gunther, please tell me you didnt say anything to Rachel about me and the girl from the Xerox place.
Gunther: Im sorry. Was I not supposed to?
Gunther: (to Chandler) Oh, no-no, no-no-no, theres none of that in here.
[cut to Gunther retraining Rachel.]
Rachel: Gunther, Gunther, please, Ive worked here for two and a half years, I know the empty trays go over there. (points to the counter.)
Rachel: No, its not gonna be okay Ross, tomorrow is my last day, and I dont have a lead. Okay, y'know what, Im just gonna, Im just gonna call Gunther and Im gonna tell him, Im not quitting.
Gunther: Do you remember when you first came here, how you spent two weeks getting trained by another waitress?
Phoebe: Gunther, kiss me.
Gunther: When's your birthday?
Gunther: Rachel?
Gunther: Yeah, whatever. (Walks away)
Monica: (turning around and doing that, "I'm making out with someone," thing with her hands) Ooh, umm, oh Kathy! Kathy, I love you! Oh! (She turns around and sees Gunther staring at her and stops suddenly.)
(Phoebe grabs Gunther and kisses him. He then falls to the couch in shock.)
Gunther: What?
Gunther: Rachel?
Gunther: I like it. (sneezes)
Gunther: So umm, are we cool?
Gunther: I knew you'd understand.
Joey: (entering) Hey Gunther, have you uh, have you seen Chandler?
Gunther: Move!
Ross: Thanks, Gunther. (takes the plate Gunther serves him and Rachel comes up and kisses him) (to Rachel) Hey! (to Gunther) Umm, can I get a napkin too?
Chandler: (to Gunther) Y'know what Gunther, go ah, go ahead, Im-Im talking to ah, (tries to get her to say her name). (to her) This is the part where you say your name.
Gunther: I thought you were Chandler. But umm, one of who is over there.
Rachel: What do you get? (She throws her pom-poms to Joey and Phoebe and performs a cartwheel.) Emily!! (Tries to do another one.) EmilWhoa!! (She falls in Chandlers room.) Okay! So thats me as a cheerleader! Ta-dum! (Gunthers the only one that claps.)
[Gunther slips and falls just before reaching the back of the couch. Monica and Phoebe come into Central Perk.]
Gunther: Oh, I-I'm just making a list of people's birthdays.
Ross: (to Isabella) Hi! Hi, Im Ross, you dont know me, but Im a big, big fan of yours. I mean, Blue Velvet, woo-oo hoo! Um, I was wondering if I could um, maybe buy you a cup of coffee? (Gunther hands her change) Or maybe reimburse you for that one?
Danny: (To Gunther) Two pounds of Moca Java please.
Gunther: Good one.
[Cut to Gunther and Emily.]
Monica: Hey Gunther. Hi. (to Phoebe) I mean youre going out on a date with the noisy guy upstairs?
Gunther: Rachel is my girlfriend.
Gunther: Oh umm, uh we dont sell cigarettes, but they have them at the newsstand across the street. (Points.)
Joey: Ah, Gunther, I cant pay for this right now because Im not working, so Ive had to cut down on some luxuries like uh, payin for stuff.
[Gunther gets up slowly from behind the couch and walks away sadly]
Gunther: YOU IDIOT!!!!!
Joshua: What?! (Gunther is listening in.)
Gunther: (to Ross) Thanks for not marrying Rachel. (He starts to leave.)
ROSS: Thank you Gunther. We didn't want to have to go and do that.
Gunther: Im sorry. Was I not supposed to?
Gunther: Ill be there.
Gunther: Whats my last name?
Gunther: But then I'd have to go all the way around the dry cleaner place.
The Stripper: Okay, which one of you guys is Gunther Central-Perk? (Sees Joey.) Hey, Joey?
Rachel: Yeah, I guess Gunther is kinda
Gunther: (To the guy) Get out!
Ross: Yeah. You can help me get my furniture back from Gunther.
[Scene: Central Perk, Gunther is serving Monica and Rachel.]
(He turns and looks at her. The woman whispers something to Gunther; who comes back and takes the mug away from Chandler.)
Gunther: I'll take it all.
Gunther: You can't.
Rachel: Well, actually Gunther sent me. Youre not allowed to have cups out here, its a thing. (takes her cup and goes back inside)
GUNTHER: That sucks. I was buried in an avalanche.
Gunther: Here's your scone.
Monica: If you would stop thinking about Ross for one minute you would notice that there are great guys everywhere! I mean, look! Look, Gunther! (Gunther turns to listen in.) I mean, he's nice, he's cute.
Gunther: Here you go. (Serves them both some coffee.)
Gunther: I dont know.
Gunther: (bringing Chandler a cup) This is from the woman at the bar.
Gunther: (To Ross) Hey! So what is this? Some kind of snake or something?
