Gunther: Oh umm, uh we dont sell cigarettes, but they have them at the newsstand across the street. (Points.)
Woman: Thatd be great, thanks. (Gunther goes and gets them.)
Melissa: I-Ive got to go. This has been so great Ray-ray! (Gunther returns with her cigarettes.) Oh, there you are. (Takes them from Gunther.) (To Rachel) Umm, so listen, just call me. Heres my card. (Hands the card over.)
Ross: Gunther. (To Chandler) Hey-hey! Why dont we put them on? Yknow get a picture of Batman and James Bond together.
(Gunther walks up)
Gunther: Someone in here.
Gunther: (to Chandler) Someone in there?
Gunther: They already do. Thats why they call it the tray spot.
Ross: Gunther! Gunther. Gunther, please tell me you didnt say anything to Rachel about me and the girl from the Xerox place.
Gunther: Im sorry. Was I not supposed to?
Gunther: (to Chandler) Oh, no-no, no-no-no, theres none of that in here.
Gunther: Here you go.
(Gunther tries to swoop in to ask Rachel out.)
Gunther: Are you all right?
Gunther: Sorry. She thought you were somebody else.
Rachel: Gunther, Gunther, please, Ive worked here for two and a half years, I know the empty trays go over there. (points to the counter.)
Rachel: No, its not gonna be okay Ross, tomorrow is my last day, and I dont have a lead. Okay, y'know what, Im just gonna, Im just gonna call Gunther and Im gonna tell him, Im not quitting.
[cut to Gunther retraining Rachel.]
Gunther: Do you remember when you first came here, how you spent two weeks getting trained by another waitress?
Gunther: When's your birthday?
Gunther: Rachel?
Gunther: Yeah, whatever. (Walks away)
Phoebe: Gunther, kiss me.
Monica: (turning around and doing that, "I'm making out with someone," thing with her hands) Ooh, umm, oh Kathy! Kathy, I love you! Oh! (She turns around and sees Gunther staring at her and stops suddenly.)
(Phoebe grabs Gunther and kisses him. He then falls to the couch in shock.)
Gunther: What?
Gunther: Rachel?
Gunther: So umm, are we cool?
Gunther: I knew you'd understand.
Gunther: I like it. (sneezes)
Gunther: Move!
[Gunther slips and falls just before reaching the back of the couch. Monica and Phoebe come into Central Perk.]
Gunther: I thought you were Chandler. But umm, one of who is over there.
Rachel: What do you get? (She throws her pom-poms to Joey and Phoebe and performs a cartwheel.) Emily!! (Tries to do another one.) EmilWhoa!! (She falls in Chandlers room.) Okay! So thats me as a cheerleader! Ta-dum! (Gunthers the only one that claps.)
Ross: Thanks, Gunther. (takes the plate Gunther serves him and Rachel comes up and kisses him) (to Rachel) Hey! (to Gunther) Umm, can I get a napkin too?
Joey: (entering) Hey Gunther, have you uh, have you seen Chandler?
Gunther: Oh, I-I'm just making a list of people's birthdays.
Chandler: (to Gunther) Y'know what Gunther, go ah, go ahead, Im-Im talking to ah, (tries to get her to say her name). (to her) This is the part where you say your name.
Ross: (to Isabella) Hi! Hi, Im Ross, you dont know me, but Im a big, big fan of yours. I mean, Blue Velvet, woo-oo hoo! Um, I was wondering if I could um, maybe buy you a cup of coffee? (Gunther hands her change) Or maybe reimburse you for that one?
[Scene: Central Perk, Gunther is pouring Rachel coffee.]
Danny: (To Gunther) Two pounds of Moca Java please.
[Gunther gets up slowly from behind the couch and walks away sadly]
Gunther: Rachel is my girlfriend.
Gunther: Good one.
[Cut to Gunther and Emily.]
Monica: Hey Gunther. Hi. (to Phoebe) I mean youre going out on a date with the noisy guy upstairs?
Gunther: (to Ross) Thanks for not marrying Rachel. (He starts to leave.)
Gunther: YOU IDIOT!!!!!
Joshua: What?! (Gunther is listening in.)
ROSS: Thank you Gunther. We didn't want to have to go and do that.
Gunther: Im sorry. Was I not supposed to?
Joey: Ah, Gunther, I cant pay for this right now because Im not working, so Ive had to cut down on some luxuries like uh, payin for stuff.
Gunther: Ill be there.
Gunther: Whats my last name?
(He turns and looks at her. The woman whispers something to Gunther; who comes back and takes the mug away from Chandler.)
The Stripper: Okay, which one of you guys is Gunther Central-Perk? (Sees Joey.) Hey, Joey?
Rachel: Yeah, I guess Gunther is kinda
Gunther: (To the guy) Get out!
Ross: Yeah. You can help me get my furniture back from Gunther.
Gunther: I'll take it all.
Gunther: You can't.
[Scene: Central Perk, Gunther is serving Monica and Rachel.]
GUNTHER: That sucks. I was buried in an avalanche.
Gunther: But then I'd have to go all the way around the dry cleaner place.
Gunther: Here's your scone.
Gunther: Here you go. (Serves them both some coffee.)
Rachel: I mean I think Id say no to anybody right now. (Hearing this Gunther swoops back to cleaning tables.) Oh, but it was so strange. I mean Im standing there with this charming, cute guy, whos asking me to go out with him, which Im allowed to do, and I felt guilty. Y'know, like Id be cheating on Ross or something.
Monica: If you would stop thinking about Ross for one minute you would notice that there are great guys everywhere! I mean, look! Look, Gunther! (Gunther turns to listen in.) I mean, he's nice, he's cute.
[Scene: Central Perk, Rachel is telling Phoebe about Mark, as Gunther eavesdrops behind them.]
Gunther: (To Ross) Hey! So what is this? Some kind of snake or something?
Rachel: Well, actually Gunther sent me. Youre not allowed to have cups out here, its a thing. (takes her cup and goes back inside)
Gunther: Oh, I was going to offer you my apartment.
Gunther: Thanks Rachel. And-and don't forget you-you can come visit her anytime you want.
Gunther: (bringing Chandler a cup) This is from the woman at the bar.
[Scene: Central Perk, Rachel is sitting at the counter waiting for Gunther, yep Gunthers back, to refill her coffee.]
Gunther: I dont know.
Gunther: Oh, Ross? Ross! You can't put up flyers in here.
(Gunther brings Janine a coffee)
(Just as they're about to leave, Gunther comes out of the back carrying two garbage bags. Larry sees this and stops him.)
Joey: Theres a lost and found? (Gunther sets the box up on the table.) My shoe! (Grabs it out of the box.)
Gunther: Well, if you want, you can work here.
Joey: Nah, its okay. Right, Gunther? (Winks at him as if theyre in on a secret together.)
Gunther: Yeah, that-that Chandler cracks me up.
Gunther: (handing Joey the bill) Here you go.
(Gunther looks at the joke and laughs.)
Gunther: Thats the whole part?
Gunther: Okay.
Gunther: Okay, Ill see you in an hour.
Gunther: He can have his job back.
Gunther: Youre paying for that.
Gunther: No!
Gunther: For all the free food you gave away.
Joey: Okay, now uh, in terms of the invite list, Ive got you, me, and Chandler and Im gonna invite Gunther cause, well, weve been talking about this pretty loud.
Rachel: (to Gunther) Ill take a coffee. (To Ross) So how was your big date last night?
Joey: Hey Gunther, dont let that guy in here anymore! He just said Phoebes a porn star!
Gunther: Yeah, thats what I drive. I make four bucks an hour, I saved up for 350 years!
Gunther: What did I tell you about talking to your friends while youre working?
Monica: Gunther, can I get a coffee (Looks at Chandler) to go?
Joey: Hey Gunther.
Gunther: So I understand youre looking for a place.
Gunther: (approaching with a tray with an order on it) Joey!
Gunther: Do you still work here?
Gunther: Oh thats cool, I was gonna fire you anyway.
Rachel: Oh, well, we can hand it to Gunther and he'll put it in lost and found.
