words in movies
Roger: I mean hey! I just met you, I don't know you from Adam. ...Only child, right? Parents divorced before you hit puberty.
Chandler: Well good, good for you. You really think that Roger is the perfect guy?
Mr. Tribbiani: Hey, hey. Good to meet you, Roger.
Monica: Great! Its so amazing! I mean, last time Dr. Roger came over, I was so nervous, but then after being with you Im all like, "Can the doctor see me now?"
Monica: Oh I cant. Dr. Roger is coming over again.
Roger: (Intercom) And Rog.
Roger: Hi.
Roger: You too, sir.
Roger: Oh.
Monica: Nothing, um, it's just, um... It's Roger.
Roger: What?
Roger: What's wrong, sweetie?
Roger: Oh. They don't.
Roger: But you tell it really well, sweetie.
Phoebe: Oh, okay, except I broke up with Roger.
Roger: It's textbook.
Roger: Did I, uh, did I miss something?
Roger: I dunno. Maybe you wanted your marriage to fail.
(Cut to Chandler, Ross and Roger sitting at the table. Ross is upset)
[Scene: Central Perk. Phoebe is there with Roger.]
Roger: You're so funny! He's really funny! I wouldn't wanna be there when when the laughter stops.
Roger: That's pretty much it.
Chandler: Yeah! When you were talking about Roger, that was killing me! Look, things like last night they dont just happen. Yknow? Or at least not to me. Or with the other two women, in the morning yknow I was just lying there and I couldnt wait to just go hang out with my friends, but with you I always yknow with a friend.
Roger: I don't know. Maybe maybe low self-esteem, maybe maybe to compensate for overshadowing a sibling, maybe you...
Roger: Okay. I'll miss you.
Roger: Geez, we're gonna be late, sweetie...
Rachel: Ok, ok, Roger was creepy, but he was nothing compared to Pete Carney.
Monica: Roger wants to take her out tomorrow night.
Roger: Listen guys, it was great seeing you again. Mon, um, easy on those cookies, okay? Remember, they're just food, they're not love.
Phoebe: Oh, this is my friend Roger.
Dr. Roger: What people?
Roger: Well, I'm not I'm not at all surprised they feel that way.
Phoebe: Fine! Then you tell Roger because he was really looking forward to this! (Phoebe exits.)
Dr. Roger: So oysters, huh?
Chandler: With Roger? (Monica shyly looks away.) Not just with Roger?! (Monica shrugs.) Oh my God!
Monica: Yeah, come on, eat, whatever you want. Dr. Roger got beeped again.
Dr. Roger: They have parasites?
Monica: Hi Roger.
Roger: That's tough. Tough stuff. C'mon, Pheebs, we're gonna catch that movie, we gotta get going.
Roger: Hey everybody.
Mr. Tribbiani: Just for a coupla days. I got a job midtown. I figure I'm better off staying with the kid than hauling my ass back and forth on the ferry. (Sees Roger) I don't know this one.
Dr. Roger: Yknow, its funny, but when we were studying communicable diseases
[Scene: Central Perk, Phoebe is there with her boyfriend Roger, talking to Rachel and Monica.]
Chandler: Im sorry youre here with me instead of Roger.
Monica: Its not like, I havent any opportunities. I mean, yknow, Im just waiting for the perfect guy. Im seeing this guy Roger, all right? Hes not perfect, but umm, I think maybe I should just get it over with. Yknow, give him my flower.
[Scene: Monica and Phoebe's, Monica is pouring wine for her boyfriend, Dr. Roger.]
Phoebe: Hi! Okay, Monica, Rachel, this is my friend Roger.
Roger: Aaaah, what's wrong, c'mon. (Pats his leg. She lies down and rests her head in his lap)
Dr. Roger: Ohh! Didnt know! Okay!
Roger: Well, I don't know. I mean, it's conceivable that you wanted to sabotage your marriage so that the sibling would feel less of a failure in the eyes of the parents.
Roger: Oh, just seems as though that maybe you have intimacy issues. Y'know, that you use your humour as a way of keeping people at a distance.
Dr. Roger: Im sorry sweetie, its the hospital. The food looks great, maybe save me some?
Phoebe: Hi. Listen, Im sorry about that whole thing with Roger. It really wasnt right, and I, and I want to make it up to you, so umm, I brought you something that I think youll really enjoy. (Goes into the hallway and returns carrying the Evander Holyfield cutout.) Now, this is just a loan. Okay? Im gonna, Im gonna want him back. So (Looks at him longingly) Im gonna go now. (Exits.) (Pause) (Entering) Im sorry, I thought I could do it and I cant! (She grabs the cutout and exits for good.)
Roger: Actually it's, it's quite, y'know, typical behaviour when you have this kind of dysfunctional group dynamic. Y'know, this kind of co-dependant, emotionally stunted, sitting in your stupid coffee house with your stupid big cups which, I'm sorry, might as well have nipples on them, and you're like all 'Oh, define me! Define me! Love me, I need love!'.
