Monica: (in her apartment, screaming) I LOVE MY NEW JOB!
Sandy: Like in my last job, I met Daniel when he was three weeks old. And I got to watch him grow into this awesome person... When I left, I said: I'll see you soon... And he said to me: Skdandy... (Ross and Rachel look puzzled) That was his name for me... I'll see you every day... right in... (points at his heart, but starts to cry before he can finish his sentence. Rachel tries to comfort him, but Ross has this "you've got to be kidding me" look all over him)
Ross: What kind of job is that for a man? A nanny? I-It's like if a woman wanted to be...
Rachel: You know, he was just doing his job...
Joey: What? Me having a job?
Rachel: (hanging up the phone) I got the job!
[Scene: Rachels new job, Rachels boss is telling her what to do.]
Rachel: Oh God, I hate my job, I hate it, I hate my job, I hate it.
Rachel: Oh no-no-no-no-no, I'm still waiting to hear from that job and the store closes at nine, so you can eat then.
JOEY: 'Cause it's always somethin', you know, like Monica's new job, or the whole Ross's birthday hoopla.
[Scene: Fortunata Fashions, Rachels new job.]
Ross: (British) Come again? Whats-whats this nonsense? (Giggles.) (American.) All right, Im-Im not English. Im from Long Island. I was really nervous and the accent just uh, just came out. Im sorry. So, if we could just get back to the lecture. Umm, were there any questions? (Everyone raises their hands) About paleontology. (They all put their hands down.) All right, look I was just trying to make a good first impression. Obviously, I screwed up. But what you guys think of me is really important because Im-Im hoping to get a permanent job here. So if you just give me another chance to make a good impression
Ross: I know! Anyway, they asked me to be a guest lecturer! I mean its temporary, but uh, if they like me it could lead to a full time job. How great would that look great on a mailbox, huh? "Professor Geller."
Kim: Oh don't be sorry, that's part of your job here to give your opinions and then I take credit for them--I'm kidding.
Rachel: Just a job!
MONICA: Um, yeah, so uh, uhh, listen, I'm sorry I didn't tell you this before but umm, I, I'm no longer at my job, I, I had to leave it.
Phoebe: Most people dont like their jobs, I love my job! I have not been working for three hours and Im already going crazy. I miss Joan.
MNCA: Oh, isn't he? Oh, you know, I really think this time it may work with him. I mean, he just makes me feel so good and I've been feeling so lousy this last couple of months, no job, no boyfriend. Well, at least my cup is half full.
Phoebe: I dont know, it would totally depend on her coloring and (realizes) You got the job!!
Rachel: (sitting down next to Chandler) Im training to be better at a job that I hate, my life officially sucks.
Rachel: Wh, Ross what do you want from me? You want me, you want me to quit my job so you can feel like you have a girlfriend?
Monica: I gave you one job! (Starts to examin the lasagne through the bottom of the glass pan.)
Lauren: (whispering) She got a job in L.A.
CHANDLER: Hey, look Joey, I'm just saying if you need something to hold you over, I can get you a job right here as an entry level processor.
Monica: (On phone) Hi, Nancy. Hi, it's Monica Geller. I'm good. Listen, I'm looking for a job in Tulsa. Well yeah, my husband has been relocated...Because I love him! No, I don't want a job in New York. Javo (sp?) is looking? Oh my God! He asked for me personally? Oh my God! Oh, wow, this is really flattering, but I'm moving to Tulsa. Yeah, so if you would tell Javo (sp?) 'I'll take it!'
JOEY: Wow, look at that. The car is on fire, yet somehow it's expensive paint job is protected by the Miracle Wax.
[Scene: A kitchen somewhere. Monica is interviewing for a job]
Ross: We ran into him on the street today and he said he might have a job for her. But I know he just wants to get into her pants.
Chandler: And you're thinking of taking it? (Pause) So before you said being me with me was more important than any job, but I guess now it's old job, (Raises his hand) me, (Raises his hand) new job.
Mark: Hi. I just talked to Joanna, and she loves you. You got it, you got the job.
Rachel: Yeah, you know, was I looking forward to going to Paris? Sure. You know, was I excited about working in the fashion capital of the world? Ooh, absolutely... Oh...! Yeah, but you know, this is... it's fine. I'm fine going back to a job where I've pretty much gotten everything out of that I possibly can... (she sits down, and Ross who is stunned to hear all this follows her example)
Rachel: Zelner! Right! I knew that! I really, really want this job and I think, I think I would be really good at it.
Monica: (Entering from her bedroom, talking on the phone) Yeah, once again, I am sorry. Thank you. Bye. (To the gang) I just had to turn down a job catering a funeral for sixty people.
Rachel: Chandler! Chandler, please, I have to get you locked up back the way you were, I am sooo gonna lose my job, shes very private about her office. Now I know why.
Monica: You got the job?! Why didnt you tell me?
Phoebe: But weve only had one job.
MNCA: So, Mr. Rastatter, what exactly does this job entail? The ad wasn't too clear.
Ross: Well, so, you-youll get a job here! I mean, Im always hearing about uh, them foreigners coming in here and stealing American jobs; that could be you!
Monica: Okay, the owner of Allesandros came over to yell at me, but instead I made him some sauce, and he offered me the job as head chef!!
[Scene: Bloomingdales, Rachels new job.]
Monica: Oh my God, are you out of a job?
Rachel: (looking at the outfit) Got a job on a river boat?
Joey: No, an entertainment unit, with a mail cubby built right in. Its a one day job, max.
[Scene: A kitchen where Phoebe and Monica are finishing up a catering job]
Rachel: Jill, honey, I think this is the best thing that couldve ever happened to you. I mean you needed to get out on your own anyway! And you know when I did it, I-I-I at first I was scared, and look at me now! Im the only daughter dad is proud of! Okay, well this is, this is what youre gonna do. Youre gonna get a job, youre gonna get an apartment, and then Ill help you and you can stay with us. Right Pheebs, she can stay with us?
[Scene: The Moondance Diner, Rachel is talking to Monica about her job.]
Ross: Correct! What is Chandler Bings job?
Rachel: You want me to just quit my job so that you can feel like youve got a girlfriend?
Rachel: 'Kay. (Pause.) Congratulations on your new job. (She goes and hugs Monica and is almost in tears.)
Emily: My job!
Rachel: Nooo, hes leaving for a better job.
Joey: Well, I'm doing this telethon thing on TV and my agent got me a job as co-host!
Joey: Like when I want a job, I go to an audition and if Im the best of the people they see, they give me the part.
Monica: You may be okay about getting hurt, but I am not okay with being the one who hurts you. Thats why I cant take this job.
Rachel: Anyway, I'm going to be the coordinator of the woman's collection, I'll work right under the director, it's the perfect, perfect job for me!
Joanna: You know, Junior Miss is where I started. Oh, I had to sleep with the ugliest guy to get that job.
Ross: No seriously. I have job security for life. You know, I never have to worry. (Rachel starts crying) Oh, look at you. Look how happy you are for me.
Phoebe: Ohh, Im getting too pregnant for this, lugging around a stupid massage table. Yknow, I have to find a job where I carrying a smaller table. (She goes over and stands in front of the TV.)
[Scene: Bloomingdales, Rachels new job, she is waiting for Joshua and practising how to ask him out.]
Chandler: Yeah! It's a stupid job, and I could not stand leaving you. And why should I be the only one who doesn't get to do what he *really* wants to do?
Ross: I don't know. It's going to be weird not having a job for a while, but I, I definitely don't care about my sandwich.
Chandler: Well, I got a job interview. Its kinda a big deal too. Its a lot more money and Id be doing data reconfiguration and statistical factoring.
Phoebe: Oh! It will be fun! Ohh! Yay! Oh! Okay, ooh, lets plan the wedding reception. (She grabs the notebook which Monica used for her ideas and starts flipping page after page after page after page after page to find a blank one.) Wow! You really wanted me to do something with this van. (pause) Yknow what, I want you to take the chef job.
Joey: Wow! Yeah I ah, I gave up a job too.
Ross: Oh sure, "Ross will do it!" Its not like he has a job, or a child, or a life of his own.
Monica: I'll get back to my new job.
Rachel: I dont know, I dont know, werent you the guy that told me to quit my job when I had absolutely nothing else to do. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!!
Chandler: Why? This was supposed to be a temp job!
Rachel: Well then how come youre still at a job that you hate, I mean why dont you quit and get the fear?
JANITOR: Oh, yeah, right. There was a break-in, few months back, inside job. Your monkey was taken.
Joey: Yeah and the most important thing is that it wont be some like, stranger up there who barely knows you. Itll be me! And I swear Ill do a really good job. Plus, yknow I love you guys and-and it would really mean a lot to me.
Chandler: And people say you dont pay attention. No, this is a much better job. Its vice-president of a company that does data reconfiguration and statistical factoring for other companies.
Monica:: he has to work, there's some rush on the big (pause, thinks) ah damn it one of these days I'm really gonna have to start listening when he talks about his job.
Earl: Its just that I uh, have been working for ten years now at this meaningless, dead-end job and nobody here even knows I exist!
Monica: He probably wants you back because you're right for the job.
[Scene: Rachel's new job, she's in her new boss's office (Kim's) and with the other assistant (Nancy). Together they're deciding what clothes to buy or something, who knows, let's all watch/read to find out.]
Manny: Well, you are not doing a very good job!
INTERVIEWER: And if I want to call for a reference on your last job?
Monica: Pick a number! That is your only job!
Cop: Yeah, but I kinda don't have a choice, it's my job. I mean, you understand right?
Gary: I know, but it's my job, sweethart!
Chandler: Great job with the cups, Pheebs!
JOEY: But don't you need experience for a job like that?
Quartet: (singing) Congratulations on your first week at your brand new job! It won't be long before your the boss.
Steve: Yes, that's right. We're excited about the level of sophistication you'll be bringing to the job.
Rachel: I-I, got a job at Ralph Lauren.
Chandler: So what job did you get Joe?
Rachel: Its not funny, this is actually my job.
ESTELLE: Joey, I'm gonna tell you the same thing I told Al Minser and his pyramid of dogs. Take any job you can get and don't make on the floor.
Ross: (to Chandler) It's her first day at this new job. Your not supposed to start with her!
Mr. Treeger: (measures the top of the doorframe) Whoa! This looks like an all day job, Ill have to cancel my yoga class. (Ross walks up.) Hey Ross!
Joey: Not good, no. I didnt get the part, and I lost my job here, so
Monica: I mean theyre trying to do everything they can to make me quit, and if there were any other job, I would. But this is something Ive been waiting for my whole life.
Chandler: Or a job where you dont have to carry a table.
Phoebe: I would love that job!
Interviewer: So it looks like youve got some great experience here. Lets see ahh, reason for leaving last job?
Chandler: Shes just doing her job!
Ross: Mark is that ah, the same Mark that helped you get the job?
Rachel: Well why didnt you take the job?
Monica: No, Ill do it. You just stick to your job.
Phoebe: What if I had taken that job at Merrill Lynch?
Mr. Tribbiani: Just for a coupla days. I got a job midtown. I figure I'm better off staying with the kid than hauling my ass back and forth on the ferry. (Sees Roger) I don't know this one.
Ross: Hey Pheebs, maybe this whole heart attack thing is a sign, that-that you should start think about getting a different job.
Rachel: (on the couch) Oh hi! Yknow, I just wanted to see if there were any leads on the old job front.
