[Scene: Chandler and Joey's erm, Monica and Rachel's, Rachel and Joey are standing at the counter. Monica is flipping a light switch on and off next to the door.]
Monica: Joey let me ask you a question. What does this light switch do?
Monica: Didnt it drive you crazy to have a switch and not know what it did?
Monica: They wouldnt have put it there if it didnt do something! How can you not care?
Monica: Janice?!
Monica: How have you been?
[Scene: Chandler and Joey's erm, Monica and Rachel's, Phoebe and Monica are plugging in a bunch of electronics.]
Monica: Done?
Monica: This switch thing has been driving me crazy. So I turned it off and checked every outlet. Now, four of them dont work. Which means, one of them has to be controlled by the switch. So, I plugged in things in all four of the outlets that-that make noise, so that way, when I turn it on I just follow the noise and find out which one it is.
Monica: Yeah, well, Im using noise. Okay. All right! So, is everybody ready? Here we go. (She flips on the switch and a hum starts.) I hear something! I hear something! Where is it? (They all start looking until Rachel realises its Joey.)
[Scene: Monica and Rachel's erm, Chandler and Joey's, Ross, Joey, and Rachel are watching rugby on TV as Phoebe enters.]
[Scene: Chandler and Joey's erm, Monica and Rachels, Monica is going over some plans as Rachel enters.]
Monica: He asked you out?!
Monica: Saucy!
Monica: Electrical plans for the building.
Monica: I know that switch does something, okay? So-so I went down to city hall and got these. All I had to do was pay $25 and wait in line for three hours.
[Scene: Chandler and Joey's erm, Monica and Rachels, Monica is reading a book as Rachel returns.]
Monica: Hi!
Monica: Oh, just some pictures I made and hung up. I thought theyd brighten up the place. They do dont you think?
Monica: No-no-no, no!
Monica: I know that theres no hole there, I just really liked that picture.
Monica: Okay, but there is a wire back there! I mean that switch is connected to something!
Monica: I just thought that if I could follow the wire I could find out what it did.
Monica: No. It disappears back there behind that baseboard. For a minute there, I thought it went downstairs.
Monica: But it didnt. Say hello to Mrs. Chatracus.
[Scene: Chandler and Joey's erm, Monica and Rachels, Monica has finally given up on her search to find what the light switch does and is now flicking it on and off aimlessly.]
Monica: All right. The super couldnt figure out what it did. A $200 an hour electrician couldnt figure out what it did. Ive had seven pretty serious shocks. I officially give up.
Monica: I guess Joey was right, it does nothing.
Monica: That, you get? That, you get?
(Monica sits, Rachel gets up.)
(Monica glares at Phoebe.)
Monica: Barry who you almost...?
Monica: What is it?
[Scene: Monica and Chandler's, Monica, Chandler, Ross, and Rachel are sitting around the table.]

Monica: (gasps) We had a characturist!
Monica: Y'know, so I don't read as many important books as you do, and I don't write trick poems that seem to be about one thing but are actually about something else. And y'know what, I get excited about stupid stuff, like when I my People magazine comes on Saturday, and the new Hold Everything catalog. Y'know but that does not mean that I'm empty, I care about things. I care about my friends and family. You have no right to make that kind of judgment about me.
Monica: Which ones?
Estelle: Ooh, what a shame! Because with her face (points to Monica) and her chest (points to Rachel) I could really put something together.
(Monica pushes him off of the sofa as Rachel enters with a shopping bag.)
Monica: No!
Monica: Well, can't you just have the party when we get back?
[Cut to Monica and Rachel's.]
Monica: Yeah but see I have nothing to compare it too. So even if youre horrible, how would I know?
Monica: Phoebe, you have a, a twig in your hair.
[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, continued from earlier.]
(Luisa nods, but then Monica and Phoebe run in)
Monica: Pheebs, you remember how we talked about saying things quietly to yourself first?
Monica: No, none at all.
Monica: Okay, he's a senior in college.
Monica: You said you loved me! I can't believe this!
Monica: Oh, wow, so you're gonna be one of those "healthy, healthy, healthy guys"?
Monica: Oh, we were playing "peek-a-boo." She just she loves it when I'm dramatic.
Monica: I don't know. I mean, I guess having sex in front of a baby isn't so...
Monica: Were not doing anything. Were just sitting around talking, quietly.
Monica: Marcel?
Monica: Look, Phoebe!
Monica: (as Rachel) Yeah... Yeah, I know it's pretty selfish, but haha, hey, that's me. (Indicating a dish on the table) Why don't you try the hummus?
Monica: Oh gosh.
Monica: What is it?
Monica: What're you gonna do?
Monica: Okay, I freaked out a little.
Monica: I don't know. Maybe we're some kinda magnets.
MONICA: His indian name?

Monica: Wow, so you guys are, you're never gonna be in the same room together? How is that even gonna work?
Monica: Well, high school was not my favourite time.
[Scene: Central Perk, Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler are there. Ross is still talking to the beautiful woman.]
Monica: I know I love you! (They hug.)
Monica: That's because I'm in front of them.

Monica: What kinda stuff?
Chandler: Ok, Monica, only dogs can hear you now, so, look, the door's open. Here we go.
Monica: Uh huh.
Monica: I sure do! (She runs over to a drawer, opens it, and grabs a lollipop.) (To Rachel) And you don't get one!
Monica: Im fine! I just, Im thinking how much its an end of era.
Rachel: Chandler and Monica?!! Oh, this is unbelievable!! How long have you known?
MONICA: What about the part where he has rabies?
Monica: (putting off her coat) Ooh, this always happens. (Her coat gets stuck.)
Monica: I'm sorry, I'll give it back to you.
Monica: Brrrrrrr!
Monica: Do you?
Monica: Great, now he's waving back.
Monica: Why don't you just take it with you?
Monica: God, Ross is on a date with your sister! How weird is that?!
Monica: Wait. He pooped in my shoe? Which one?
Monica: (furious) That's it! Dinner is over!
[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, continued from earlier, only slightly later.]
Monica: Actually, I was gonna do them jullienne.
Monica: So she's a woman! So what?
[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Joey returns from his audition and finds everyone but Phoebe there.]

Rachel: Oh, Monica. You are not still going over that thing.
Monica: (she hugs Chandler) Honey, you've been really strong about this, I know how badly you wanted that job.
Monica: I know, I know. I'm just so tired of-of missing him. I'm tired of wondering why hasn't he called. Why hasn't he called!
(Monica and Rachel smile back prettily.)
